Tuas mãos

Lembro-me bem de ti
Lembro como se fosse ontem..

Do teu cheiro,
Teu abraço,
Teu jeito rabugento
E debochado
Tuas palavras,
Teu riso,
Tua voz
E de tuas mãos

Elas,
Já calejadas,
Com marcas do tempo
Carregando as dores da velhice
Do medo
Do câncer

Elas
Perfeitos sinais destas dores
Dores tuas
Dores minhas
Dores nossas

Tua saúde se esvaindo...
E, tuas mãos, lindas
Lindas como sempre

São as mesmas mãos
Que me carregaram na maternidade
As mesmas
Que afagavam
Meus longos cabelos loiros

Nelas,
Toda a tua história
História que se confunde com a minha
Ai, quantas lembranças tenho de nossa história!

Quantas saudades sinto
Das tuas mãos
Do teu afago
Do teu abraço
Do teu deboche
Do nosso amor,
Grande,
Imenso amor

Amor que a morte não separa,
Não transforma,
Não apaga

A great poem (as usual). It's about your grandfather isn't it? He'd be really really proud of you. I'm sure of it!
"Amore que a morte não separa, Não transforma, não apaga". I think that really says it all about those we have to leave behind, but who we keep we us, inside out hearts/souls, whom we keep alive and at times keep us alive.

  2. It is funny, I am re-reading several of your poems tonight and discovering new things in them, feeling new feelings.. this is very good.. (although one made me very sad all of a sudden). In the first time I read this poem I knew it was about your grandfather, this time I am reading it, much more of the details of the poem have struck me. Your using his hands to remember him, the things he suffered, the good times you had, the love you shared, is brilliant and amazing. You have this ability to take something small and use it to describe bigger things, even universal things..
Keep writing!!! I want new poems soon :-)
